On Tuesday, 6 June 1944 at 0630 hours (GMT+2), operation Neptune commenced. Over the course of the operation, 160,000 Allied troops would be brought ashore in what would go down in history as the largest amphibious landing ever. The landings involved more than 195,000 Allied naval and merchant naval personel and more than 5,000 ships. On this day, approximately 10,000 Allied troops were killed or injured.

67 years later, on Sunday, 5 June 2011, we will commemorate this pivotal encounter by hosting a D-Day Flames of War tournament. This tournament will take players from the sands of the Normandy coastline to the intense fighting in the fields and bocage of the Normandy country side.
